Our short filming trip into the Mekong Delta left us not only with...

...extremely strong impressions of local people but also with great footage about the traditional life in the Mekong Delta. The most amazing experience was our arrival in Phung Hiep, 165 km south of Saigon or Ho Chi Minh City, as the commis call it since 1975. After stepping out of the bus in the middle of nowhere town late night on the 18th of Feb, 2011, people watched us like aliens, and just laughed about the only two strangers staying in this town where the Vietcong used to hideout within mangroves during the American war.

Nobody spoke any english word in this town, and we just had to deal with hand and feet to get along and find a place to sleep. But we didn´t regret it as we like to getaway from the usual tourist path, in these days that is getting more and more difficult. Finally we got rewarded widely for taking the risk to wander into unknown space for European filmmakers, I saw people and collected imagines, different to anything before...
