The Mekong Delta served as the finishing of a 3 weeks filming trip again with the 7d Canon DSLR camera.
After our initial work with that system in Rocinha/Brasil, where we unfortunatley couldn´t continue as planned due to the gang problems right now in Rio de Janeiro, we could extend our knowledge with that equipment. There are really positive sides of using that stuff, especially being able to use 1.4 T-stop lenses, we also realized that there are a lot of problems occurring with the DSLR cameras. Of course, sound, than the strong compression in post production and the negative effects while moving the camera too fast especially with long lenses.
Still, you can get amazing good contrasts, similar to 35mm when using this camera in the right light conditions, a step into the right direction of digital filmmaking. Just need more resolution and less compression. Check out our little clips from Laos and Vietnam entirely shot by the the 7d.
