Trip to Rio Ampiyacu, Amazonas

10 day trip up the Amazon river into the Rio Ampiyacu

How great it is to be without internet for 10 days. There are very few places, where that is possible, but in the Peruvian Amazon definitley it is! After a 2 days journey on an Amazonian "lancha" hanging in hamocks and sharing 1 bathroom with 100 people, we arrived in Pevas, Peru, a smal community without energy most time of the day, no cars, no motorbikes.

Here we made friends with Francisco Grippa, a famous Peruvian artist and a real character, you might know from Thomas Manns or Hermann Hesses books. Or better said, he is the real Jack Kerouac of today. After shooting an interesting profile about him, starting at 4 in the morning, I realized that I have to purchase some of his paintings, because his life style doesn´t lead into a long and healthy pension...
