Many changes – climatic, political and those brought by civilisation – strongly affect the settlements in the central Amazon. Little by little, the local people are developing their own attitude towards a sustainable, adapted life in the heart of the Amazon rainforest. In 2012, filmmaker Thomas Miklautsch and photographer Anja Krois spent several months travelling the Amazon, from Leticia in Colombia to the Rio Ampiyacu near Iquitos in Peru, in harmony and sensitive exchange with the indigenous tribes. The life stories of interesting characters along the way form an authentic portrait of the current situation in the Amazon: a self-financed film, made free from the influence of outside commercial interests.
